Inertia

We never rise above what we tolerate.

It is clear most people wish to live the life seen only in their dreams. Sitting on our hands is safer than any precarious attempt to attain our dreams.

It is analogous to the concept that “everyone wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die.”

“The secret to happiness is freedom…
And the secret to freedom is courage.”
~
Thucydides

Speaking to a group of headstrong endurance athletes recently highlighted this polarity. The attendees displayed intrigue about synergistic solutions to improve wellness and performance; yet, dismissed any commitment to impart lifestyle or performance changes.

This begged the question: “Why did they attend the clinic if they already had the answers”?

“The art of being wise is the art of knowing what to overlook.”
~
William James

Change is a constant in life and sport.
One must learn to adapt to and grow with change – not resist it.

What stops you from attaining happiness?
Happiness requires freedom.
Freedom requires courage.

Risk is the catalyst.

Challenge yourself today to take charge of your wellness.
You created your current circumstances – and you can rewrite them.

Focus on what truly makes you tick.
Make the decision today to ditch drudgery, excuses, inertia, and procrastination from your life.

Most people seem to desire an improved quality of life.
This parallels the fact I have never met an endurance athlete not interested in improving his/her performance.

The issue is both groups remain reluctant to initiate lifestyle or training regimen changes.
We cannot have it both ways.

Surrendering to an open mind is a necessary evil en route to mindfulness.
Mindfulness manifests synergy which cultivates self-actualization.

You decide whether to thrive or exist.
We must be willing to embrace risk with unrelenting valor in search of our True Nature.

The beauty of our boldness yields priceless feelings of both exhilaration and razor-sharp fear. When we can view obstacles as opportunities and problems as solutions we are on the path to transformation.

Fear-based illusions dissipate when we change our mindset.
We must act like our lives depend on it…because our lives depend on it!

“To study the self is to forget the self.”
~
Dogen

Your resolve will be incessantly challenged.
Self-actualization – like optimum wellness and performance – is an inside-out proposition.

Everything changes when you change yourself. You are the constant element in a world of change. Shit will happen whether you do anything to become a better person or you have a pity party of regret.

Envision. Believe. Create. Manifest. Serve.

Awareness and fierce discipline will lead you to your Noble Truth.
You just need the courage to fetch it.

A limitless life is a choice…
